Typically Argentines are our best sellers because anyone can use them. These are the quintessential example of “user-friendly” bits for both horse and rider.
Usually fairly low in leverage and very flexible, the shanks are seven inches or shorter, and are often made with broken mouthpieces and swivel cheeks that make for a primary schooling bit. They are used to introduce leverage to young horses or to rectify certain problems of mature horses. Also, they are really handy to have around because one works on all horses.
Unless you are trying to reach higher levels of performance, this type of bit will serve you well. If you are on the way to higher performance, one of these is as necessary to your “tool box” as a screwdriver or a pair of pliers.
